upgrading to a newer version using aptitude

aptitude is general-purpose. Update-manager is tweaked specifically for
each individual upgrade (Edgy -> Feisty, Dapper -> Next LTS, etc). When
you have the edgy-upgrade repos enabled, you will notice that edgy's
update-manager was upgraded. This is because you received a special
version employing algorithms for this specific upgrade. There was
