Podcasts

Several websites offer podcasts of various radio programs. Most also have 
downloadable software (for Windows, of course, and frequently Mac OS) to 
receive them.

Is there software available to receive these podcasts in Linux? I see a couple 
of possibilities in Synaptic, but the setup is not obvious to me - even after 
looking at the software.
