If you're waiting for any useful OOo updates for dapper, you'll probably
be waiting forever. :)
On dapper, I use the official OOo packages from openoffice.org. You can
remove all of the Ubuntu openoffice packages, then use "alien" to
install the RPMs provided at openoffice.org. (You'll also need to
install the openoffice.org-debian-menus package to get openoffice to
show up in the main menus.)
I've been doing this ever since breezy - since I really do need up to
date versions of Open Office. So far, I've had zero problems with this
approach. (If you want to do a major distribution upgrade, though,
you'll need to uninstall the official Open Office packages and reinstall
the Ubuntu ones.)
