[OT] Java Studio on Edgy

I know this is somewhat OT, but I'm a bit stumped.  I got Sun Studio
installed and the corrected version of the JRE setup via
update-alternatives.

After the install, I launched the app, and it ran ok (except that it
won't compile anything).

However, I shut down the IDE and, on an attempt to re-start it, I get a
dialog which gets to "Turning on modules" and stays there (currently,
its been there for over an hour), with the only method of being able to
stop it via killall...

Does anyone have any ideas whether or not this will actually work on
Ubuntu Edgy?
