Laptop not shutting down

Hallo!

My brand new laptop (LG LW20) seems to shut down properly, but it doesn't turn 
itself off after the shutdown process.

There's something odd with this, as it does power itself down if I turn it off 
from kdm (I installed kubuntu 6.06.1), only if no user has logged in  8-?

Help is welcome.  TIA  ;)
