kernel 2.6.18 / fglrx

Hi,

I'm running a 2.6.18 kernel (self-built, with suspend2, ipw3945, and a
few other patches) and I've been unable to figure out how to get the
latest ati proprietary driver to work with it. It seems as though the
kernel modules don't even get loaded at startup. Can anyone provide
pointers?

I ran through (roughly) the procedure shown at
