Firefox woes

after FF updates it was officially announced from mozilla if there are
problems with extentions to open the extentention manger and search for
updates once.

close all FF windows, then I also suggest to:

$ cd .mozilla/firefox/_RANDOM_/
$ rm compreg.dat XUL.mfasl

start FF and see if it helps.
