Firefox woes

Hi

I was using Firefox 1.0.5 and now 1.5.0.7 and have a occasional problem 
where i click on a link and instead of opening in the same page as it 
should it opens in its own large rectangular page.

If i close this page Firefox crashes and i have to start again, lucky i 
have session manager. I also get untiled window pages popping up now and 
again, which are mostly empty.
