Will a Logitech Orbit MP webcam work on Ubuntu 6.06?

I got it to work - but only by compiling the uvc drivers....
(http://linux-uvc.berlios.de/)   I used this thread -
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=241681&highlight=uvc - to get
things working.   Right now only ekiga works with the cam (from the
applications I've tried).  Also - I haven't gotten the pan/tilt/zoom
part to work.  I initially thought orbitview would do that
(http://hcvl.hci.iastate.edu/OrbitView/) but that is for the older
(non-MP) version.  I'm not sure if the onboard mic works either.....
