fire wall & anti-virus? do i really need it

I don't run an antivirus tool for several reasons:

1. It makes the system slow to a crawl.
2. I usually take great care of what things do I download, where do I
download the from and what do I install.
3. Linux makes difficult for viruses and worms to affect the system.

However, I recommend running a firewall, and satying up-to-date with
security patches.
