MacMan, your command doesn't work for me (on an amd64), I get:
sudo update-java-alternatives --plugin -s java-1.5.0-sun
update-java-alternatives: plugin alternative does not exist:
/usr/lib/jvm/java-1.5.0-sun/jre/plugin/amd64/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so
update-java-alternatives: plugin alternative does not exist:
/usr/lib/jvm/java-1.5.0-sun/jre/plugin/amd64/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so
update-java-alternatives: plugin alternative does not exist:
/usr/lib/jvm/java-1.5.0-sun/jre/plugin/amd64/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so
I read somewhere that only Blackdown java still has the
libjavaplugin_oji.so file and sun-java5 hasn't. However on my i386
machine sun-java5 runs fine with firefox, since Ubuntu provides a
separate package for this plugin.
For amd64 such a package doesn't exist as far as I can see. Any other
suggestions to get it running under amd64?
