hp dv8135 - kernel panic on livecd bootup

Ive been trying to install ubuntu on my new dv8135nr laptop, and every
time i get a kernel panic with something to do with the acpi.  ive
tried different boot parameters like pci=noacpi noapic nolapic etc and
still cant seem to get past the kernel panic to do the install.  I
dont know what else to try, the bios is pretty limited on this laptop
and there is no option to turn off acpi or anything else that has to
do with power management etc.  in fact, you really cant do a whole lot
in this bios.  im using the x64 liveCD since this is a turion64 cpu.
