/ suddenly mounted read only under edgy

Hi all,

I have a strange problem with edgy. Suddenly / is mounted read only
and mount -o remount fails:

root at nx7010:~# mount -t ext3 -o remount,rw /dev/hda1 /
mount: block device /dev/hda1 is write-protected, mounting read-only

Also there is no entry for / when i type mount, but it's in
/proc/mounts. Further it's commented out in /etc/fstab.

It seems to me that a lot of things changed in Edgy concerning the way
how fs is mounted, etc. How can I find documentation about this?
