XP does ship with the necessary drivers for VMware SCSI emulation--I
have it installed in three VMs inside VMware Server, along with three
installs of Win98SE... All using SCSI emulation. (And SCSI emulation
will yield better performance than IDE emulation.)
The solution to Stan's problem is most likely a simple one. Think about
then when you're looking for the solution--don't over complicate the
problem. If you've never used VMware Server before, check their docs for
installing Guest operating systems--if you follow these instructions,
you'll likely find what went wrong with your initial attempts.
That said, your support issue Stan, as previously stated, really does
belong in the VMware Server support forums.
