XP under VMware server

I just installed the VMware 1.0.1 server, and created a virtual machine.
When I "boot" the machine with an XP CD in the CD drive, all goes OK,
untill XP tries to detect a ahrd drive. Then it claims there is no hard
drive. I see that VMware has set up the virtual drive as a SCSI drive, is
this part of the problem? I've never installed XP before, so I'm not
certain how this is supposed to go. I've take all teh deafault answers in
the XP install.
