I have an 8 bit Morrow MD3 hung off this linux box:
(Circa 1984)

 $ getty -L 9600 ttyUSB0 vt420

No conventional serial port on this hardware. Using one of those USB - Serial
gizmos., a bundle of 9pin - 25pin adapters, some `idiot lights', `null modem'
and `straight through' cable to MD3's `B' port.

MD3 is running ZMP terminal software, which does zmodem (for easy file
transfer).
Set for 8-N-1 @ 9600. Should do maybe 19k2, but I need to dig deeper into
matters there.

Getty is adaptive. man getty is not too heavy reading ;-)

Do "man getty"

I trust this info is helpful.

Paul.
