I never try this before, but you may have a try to install the knowledgetree
with xampp without touching the mysql and apache in your machine. I guess it
should be a problem. Because their mysql is install in another places in
your machine.

If it doesn't work or it conflict, you just uninstall xampp with
knowledgetree and download the linux version and do the manual installation.
This one sure work. :P
