Thunderbird mails recovery

Use on the Shell,
~# mozilla-thunderbird -ProfileManager

Then create a new profile, and sellect your backed up profile folder. 
Then you'll have all your extensions and settings in this profile. I 
suggest, you move your Profile folder on another partition than Your 
OS(es) one so that you won't lose it.

I heard about a plugin which does backup your mail but I don't remeber 
the name. Look on Thunderbird website.
