Thunderbird mails recovery

Hi

I lost my thunderbird mails as I had to install Ubuntu afresh on a new
partition.  How do I restore the mails in the new thunderbird installation ?
 When I try to copy the original profile and local store folder, I get all
the folders intact but I am not able to see the mails inside.

Is there any utility like Thunderstor in Ubuntu ?
