Adding XCircuit to desktop menu

I downloaded XCircuit using Synaptic. Should it have created an entry in 
the Applications menu tree?

Also, it looks like the icon file (xcircuit.xpm) did not get downloaded.

I am new to Ubuntu so I am not sure if this is a bug (or a feature 
request?) and where I should report it.
