As others have said, this is not supported, you need to do Breezy ->
Dapper -> Edgy.
Always (seriously) follow the upgrade instructions to the letter:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DapperUpgrades
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/EdgyUpgrades
For non-expert users it is advisable not to use the command line tools
(apt-get or aptitude), but instead use the Update Manager application as
explained in the upgrade instructions. Update Manager downloads a file
which tells it exactly how to do a specific upgrade (e.g., Breezy ->
Dapper). This file is tuned for best results.
Conversely, the command line tools are generic and assume a quite
knowledgeable user. If you want to use them use aptitude dist-upgrade
instead of apt-get, it is better at resolving dependencies.
Finally, upgrading to Edgy before it is released is likely to not work
perfectly without some knowledge and manual intervention.
