mldonkey install problem/error on ubuntu 6.06 (server)

Maybe I can add my own problem with mldonkey, which seems to be similar to
yours (although me being a COMPLETE newbie probably makes it worse).

I had installed the Linux version of the SoulSeek file share program called
Nicotine (I'm running Dapper Drake). I was having problems getting results
for searches and establishing connections and I stumbled upon the mldonkey
server and thought that that might help. I encountered an error when
installing mldonkey and now cannot re-install or remove/uninstall it from my
system- the error I keep getting is:

E: mldonkey-server: subprocess pre-removal script returned error exit status
1

this error is also now also returned when I install Drake updates or try to
do other installs though Synaptic or sudo.

Does this have anything to with the problem mentioned below? could the fix
be the same? I would really like to get rid of mldonkey from my system.
