Thanks, useful to know. I had read that the initialisation needed to
be done a specific way, and had seen some very detailed write up about
using only linux initially. Maybe yours was pre initialised in some way(?)
The ipod No1 in the family is windows, mine is No2 and will be linux
but I would like to gain more knowledge of the consequences of
occasionally using windows. For example the family (no1) itunes
databse is large and I back it up over NFS between machines from its
vfat partition. konquerer and nautilus seem to have differing abilty
to handle the character set in this process, and I see some
unrecognised characters. This might complicate serious use of the
backup files in the event.
