dist-upgrade to dapper? (not edgy)

Just to add to my earlier posting, my concern is that in all upgrade
discussions with the Ubuntu folks that I have seen it was stressed that
neglecting to install ubuntu-desktop practically guarantees major
breakage during the dist-upgrade. I just don't know how it affects an
X-less installation
