I've almost never had it happen in NTFS (from Within Windows).  It's not
an issue of Microsoft so much as it's an issue of FAT32.  NTFS and ext3
are both Journaling file systems.  FAT32 is not.  FAT32 is the "ext2"
file system of the Windows world.
