X libs (for compiling)

Hello list

I've just moved to Ubuntu because some hardware incompatibilities with my
old distro, and have a few troubles. Am reading documentation to have a
general idea but there are some basic tasks I require right now since I have
pending work that can't wait for me to read all docs, so I asked here.

My X11 base applications are in source code, but do not compile because Xlib
and include/Xlib.h and related packages are not installed. I found the
apt-get and gnome-app-install and installed g++ package but can't find the
name of the X development packages to install them, which packages should I
install or where can I find the list?
