If your repos, do point to universe and multiverse
in /etc/apt/source.list, then you can install w32codes which enables you
to play most of the formats.
Ofcourse, you need internet to download those packages.
The second solution is to convert mp3s into oggs, using the tool
mp32ogg, then you can play with rhythmbox.
