DVD-ROM Problem

I rented the movie Cars yesterday and though I couldn't get it to play
in totem, xine-ui played it o.k. the first time through. On subsequent
plays, it gets stuck in one particular spot of the movie and the drive
starts chugging away. dmesg shows this:

[17190677.528000] hdc: media error (bad sector): error=0x30 {
LastFailedSense=0x03 }

And similar messages back for several minute. Kill -9 made xine
"defunct". eject /dev/hdc failed. Repeatedly pressing the eject button
on the drive is how I eventually got it to quit. I don't see any damage
on the disc. I'd like to try and get bug(s) filed and taken care of,
but as it is a rental disc I don't know that I'll have much success with
that.

Any suggestions on where I should start? I've yet to have any problems
with any other movies.
