Hi,

I know this is a dumb question, but how to re-compile the ubuntu 6.10
bundeled kernel ?
I read through https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelCustomBuild
but I have no debian/config/i386/ folder :

root at encoder0:/usr/src# ls -l
total 44940
lrwxrwxrwx  1 root src        19 2006-11-08 10:09 linux -> linux-
source-2.6.17
drwxr-xr-x 19 root root 4096 2006-11-08 09:55 linux-
headers-2.6.17-10
drwxr-xr-x 4 root root 4096 2006-11-08 09:55 linux-
headers-2.6.17-10-server
drwxr-xr-x 22 root root 4096 2006-11-08 10:10 linux-source-2.6.17
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 45954087 2006-10-13 14:53 linux-
source-2.6.17.tar.bz2

root at encoder0:/usr/src# cd linux
root at encoder0:/usr/src/linux# ls -l debian/config/i386/
ls: debian/config/i386/: Not a directory

root at encoder0:/usr/src/linux# AUTOBUILD=1 fakeroot debian/rules
binary-debs
make: *** No rule to make target `binary-debs'. Stop.

what is wrong ?
what to do to compile this kernel ?

the final question is "how to have asihpi sound (alsa) drivers to
work with ubuntu 6.10 without crashing the kernel" ?
if somebody can tell...
:)

Thanks

Prune
