Have you tried imp? I've never had any particular problem with it, and
have used it for the webmail service (under Debian) on an ISP that has a
million or so users (http://webmail.zonnet.nl/), without any problems;
it's been running for about three years now, with no major issues, and
as far as I know, they're still using it. It found much more favour with
the users than the Netscape webmail client that had been used prior to
that ;)
