alsaconf gone.. need another way to configure soundcard

Hi,
It seems that alsaconf has been removed from Warty alsa-utils a while ago.
What I know of alsaconf that it was badly maintained and was probally removed
because of this.
But alot of users still need this to configure some old isa cards and new
soundcards that alsa doesn`t automatically sees like mine "Intel HD chipset"
( high definition ).
I am searching through the web/forums/mailing-lists, although I don`t find any
post on adding alsaconf to alsa-utils again, besides these post ;

So I was wondering if some people found a way around this problem.
