Help with New Hard Drive

Gparted, does see the other drive, hdb
however, there are 4 caution sign next to each partition (4) of them
hdb1 -hdb4 (filesystem) unknown

How does one wipe the drive, and reformat and mount it
again, I want to use this drive a mp3, pdf's, storage ...
what file format would be a good choice?
