Why does new Dapper udev build conflict with ifrename?

This doesn't seem to be the case on my Breezy laptop or my older
Dapper install with udev 079-0ubuntu24, but as of what's current (udev
079-0ubuntu34), udev now conflicts with the ifrename package. Why is
this?

udev only conflicts with two packages -- hotplug and now also
ifrename. I can understand hotplug by why ifrename? Is there some
functionality now in udev that provides ifrename's functionality?
