nothing seams 2b working 4 me.

how can i remove all xgl & compiz & just use nornal X that was there with
the dapper

i did this

apt-get remove xserver-xgl compiz-gnome
dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg

when i boot i get a grey window with a "x" in the middle :<

i need to leave the eye candy for now & just use a normal system

any thoughts?
