I know, responding over and over again to my own posts. Just an addendum:

Just now tried suspend-to-RAM using the hibernate script. A smashing,
smashing success -- really just phenomenal, shutdown took less than 5
seconds and resume is about twice that, maybe 10-15 seconds. Wow. But of
course in this state the system still uses power, and I would like to be
ableto switch the box off, maybe open it up, and stil lahve everything bei n
working order. Or be ableto trust that the box will survive a power outage.
whatever. SO if anyone has any hints about suspend or swsusp2 I'd really
appreciatethem.
Again, thanks!
