Looking at the OP's previous posts it seems it's a handbuilt Linus
kernel.
I hope the link you posted in the previous thread has answered the
OPs problem. (I was going to reply to the previous thread later but
wouldn't've known about the blacklist changes without your post ;)
I think I should point out to the OP that the 2.6.x Linus kernels
(despite what it says at kernel.org) are really development kernels -
there are many changes between releases. It's distros such as Ubuntu
that massage them into shape for a stable release.
I have a couple of suggestions for the OP that may help. Check whether
things work with a standard Ubuntu kernel before posting questions
and make it clear that your problem relates to non-Ubuntu software.
If you want your kit to work reliably for day to day use, use another
box for kernel building etc, or, if that's not possible, dual boot.
