Packages ! get the current ones???

Ubuntu stays with the version of a package that is available at each
release. For example Breezy 5.10 released with version 1.0.x (can't
remember the exact minor version), which was superceded quite quickly
with the 1.5.x series.



You have a choice of either using those available in the repositories
for your release, downloading a third party package or compiling your
own copy from source.
