Your computer remains usable though, so no need to plan it overnight per
se.. Still, that's what I do for major downloads / upgrades.

Just follow the steps in the wiki instructions.  This is one of the few
things I actually run in a terminal, I normally go through great lengths
to avoid that at all costs. :)   It's real easy and straightforward
though.
