i hear what you say, i have been using linux on and off over the years, 
but since i have put ubuntu on my computer, It just don't feel right 
using windows any more, i would have to say out of all the distros that 
i have used ubuntu would have to be my favourite and the one i am going 
to specilize in using and promoting to people.
like you i am not pro but i do know enough to get my way around and to 
use it without the need of windows
