KDE not responding post today's updates

Having finished updating Dapper beta w/today's lot, KDE commenced to do two 
things: (1)show the right-click menu immediately; (2)totally hang up to the 
point that ONLY C-A-Bksp worked.  I used the C-A-Bksp three or four different 
times within the first 5 minutes after reboot, a couple of them w/'top' 
loaded in konsole.   Top didn't show anything out of the ordinary.  I also 
logged out, deleted the .kde directory structure, logged back in and nothing 
had changed.  Firefox, XMMS, Konq, konsole, et.al., were tried and the result 
was always the same.  The applied updates were:

  acpi-support cupsys-driver-gutenprint debconf debconf-i18n
  foomatic-db-gutenprint hicolor-icon-theme ijsgutenprint koffice-data
  koffice-libs krita krita-data libgtk2.0-0 libgtk2.0-bin libgtk2.0-common

30 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.

Anyone else experience this??
