My problem with the dial up in dapper is somewhat different... My modem
works fine in Breezy. Just had to put in my ISP settings and it dialed
out... In Dapper the modem is still detected on ttys4 and i can configure my
dial up.. however, when i click activate nothing happens... no sound, no
initialization... was wondering what they changed in dapper to cause that to
happen...
In Breezy the modem was on ttsy14... I don't think that it being detected on
ttsy4 in Dapper should make a difference.
I'd like to know what commands i can use in the terminal to query the modem
since am not too apt in things of the like as yet... being new to linux...
My modem is a V90 Actiontec 56K. I believe the chipset is lucent. other
info says something to this effect. Venus Agere Systems (dunno if that is
the correct spelling)
I have used this modem with other versions of linux, such as Redhat 9,
FedoraCore, Suse, Mandrake and of course Ubuntu Breezy 5.10 without having
to get a driver for it.
Just need some advice on what to do.
