one more concern raised was how someone's system would be affected if
Automatix crashed in the middle.

The answer to that is as follows:

The user in that case would be left with automatix's sources.list which
by all means is stable and does not lead to crashes. All that the user
needs to do is run automatix again and install the options which were
left uninstalled or semi-installed the last time.

Its the same effect that apt-get or synaptic would have if they crashed
while downloading or installing a package.



If all goes well, Automatix gives the user the option to restore one's
previous sources.list at the end.
