Keeping a deb file, and not upgrading it....

This nailed it for me. Thanks to all that responded.

BTW, Adept is the package manager for Kubuntu, built by the Kubuntu team. 
After using Aptitude, I am quite grateful it exists, as Aptitude drove me 
nuts.
