If you use Synaptic, you can just select your package then go to
Package->Lock Version, and it will not be upgraded anymore.
Warning: from past experience, it seems that apt-get does NOT respect
packages locked by Synaptic. That is, it will happily upgrade a package
even if Synaptic locked it. Not a real problem though, once you are
aware of it. Just need to be careful when using apt-get afterwards, not
to accidentally upgrade the package.
