Is there a good BASIC compiler for ubuntu?

I've only ever seen someone try to do computer type stuff on a dead
badge (<http://www.strangehorizons.com/2004/20040405/badger.shtml>),
not a live python.

I imagine you'd need to concern yourself with avoiding getting
strangled (of course, around here with all the language snobs that's
hard to do ;-P

I don't think the point of the original post was wanting to do
development :-)... just a simple request for information (upon which
some trolls unfortunately jumped :-(.
