Despair Over WMP54GS Wifi

Hello I'm pretty new to Linux and Ubuntu. I've been having a lot of  
trouble getting a WMP54GS Linksys PCI wireless card to work on my  
computer. I have an Athlon XP 2g processor. I've tried both the 64  
and x86 architectures and still have problems. The problems range  
from not even detecting the card to installing ndiswrapper and  
installing the card... With no internet connectivity. I'm on my last  
leg with linux... I'm just about ready to go back to xp. If anyone  
can help me, possibly walk me through or point me to a walk through  
for this problem, I would infinitely appreciate it.
