ubuntu in an IBM x40 thinkpad, and a docking station

Thanks to everyone for their help so far. I've never done work detecting 
and managing acpi events, so I need to do a little reading.

Michael, I'll email you directly to avoid consuming ubuntu list 
bandwidth. I'm seeing some events, but not the docking. I'll email you 
what I see in  /var/log/acpid a little later. I see the function keys, 
but not the docking.

if people are interested in following this, email me and I'll move my 
messages back here.
