Can't you just use the file browser? Go->CD/DVD Creator? That is a
simple, no-frills way to create a data CD/DVD.

Serpentine (though I've never used it) looks like an equally
straightforward way to create an audio CD. Serpentine is installed in
any standard Ubuntu system, as far as I know.
