OK here goes ...

I have 2 x 165 GB IDE drives on hda, hdc. I partition them as ...

hda1 157GB linux raid autodetect, bootable
hda5 7.7GB swap
hdc1 157GB linux raid autodetect, bootable
hdc5 7.7GB swap

(I know swap is big but I need to remaster DVD isos)

'create MD device'
'raid 1'
'active devices 2'
'spare devices 0'

'active devices' I select with a *

/dev/hda1
/dev/hdc1

partitioner restarts

I now have

hda1 157GB linux raid autodetect
hda5 7.7GB swap
hdc1 157GB linux raid autodetect
hdc5 7.7GB swap
raid 1 device #0 157GB software raid device
#1 157GB

(looks good)

I press 'finish partitioning ....'

Zip hapens I stay in the partitioner. I ctrl alt 4 and see the error message

'no volume groups found' I have not selected or played with LVM !

Any suggestions, this is the first time I have dabbled with raid :)

Dave
