machine locks during screensaver

You might check in synaptic to see if there are any open gl libs that 
haven't been installed on your system.  I had the same problem, and 
started installing aanything that had anything to do with gl, but I have 
forgotten what solved the problem.  Also, if you want, you could remove 
the xscreensaver, and install the gnomescreensaver.  That worked on my 
machine when the other did not.  Good luck!
